Default Information Workshops

A the last meeting of the OMVA at Swiss Chalet this week, I offered to hold some information and hands on workshops to help anyone that is working on military vehicles.
These workshops would be informal and hopefully educational for the average collector. We do not want to make professionals, but we would like to help people restoring their own vehicles. Some of the topics we could look at are:
- Welding, arc and mig
- brazing silver soldering
- using a plasma arc cutter
- body work and metal forming
- electrical wiring
- tune ups
- vehicle painting(everyone's favorite thing)
- inspecting a vehicle prior to purchasing
- fault finding electrical and mechanical
- changing brakes
- storing your vehicle for the winter/prepping it for the summer
- etc etc etc....!!!!!
These are just some of the topics, and we would be open to any suggestion. The format to follow is to ask the participation of everyone who has a particular skill. Everyone has a skill that they are good at and we want that person to share his knowledge.
(At this point I must tell Bob that the finer points of beer drinking will be considered)
We have so much talent in the MV community that it is now time for everyone to share their skills.
These seminars could be held on a Saturday or Sunday during the winter months. I am offering my garage and equipment for the seminars.
I would like to get a feedback on what you think of my idea and if the interest is sufficient we will create a census sheet to fill in.
This is offered to all members of the MLU and OMVA.
Thanks Gilles

Gilles: If a person couldn't attend one of the workshops, but was really interested in the content, would you consider an on-line debrief covering what was taught/discussed/considered/recommended?

I'm particularly interested in prepping a veh for winter storage and the reverse.

Bob:

You forgot to mention that you'll be holding clinics on burn treatment.....do it yourself limb reattachment....staunching catastrophic blood loss and removal of foreign objects from the cranium.

Why don't you have someone videotape it for those who can't attend (or those who won't due to the likelihood of collateral damage )?

Hi Gilles,
Will do my best to keep an open slate. It's been 'Stupid' busy at my day job. Letting some of the 'youngsters' assume more responsibility.....which sadly doesnt always work out lol.

Found a bumper and more parts. Just waiting for more humane weather or an indoor location to put everything together.

Have a good New Year.

Jim

Hi Gilles,

Looks like you were having a hoot scooting about on the Mule! Sadly Tyler saw it and wants to know how to get one ! Damn you get me into a lot of hot water LOL!

Any news on an upcoming workshop? I see the OMVA Winter date is the 19th of February.

Just my two cents worth, but here goes...

What about trying to put together a workshop or workshops to concur with the various OMVA events? Obviously a much better audience, a location and a plethora of parts and accesories to play touchy feely with.

This is typical of how the many US based shows add a little extra to the program.

You may also gain a few volunteers that would maybe put in some time to host a particular workshop so one guy doesn't have to try to figure out how to entertain the audience...
