Where does that name come from? Roto = inner, inside, or lake.
Whero is red as in colour. "The Red Centre? A Maori named truck relating to the middle of Australia. Is there a story behind that name on the Chev?

Also some short snippets on Youtube, Saracen drive, Stalwart on the move and the Hummer finally getting the tank to tow start.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TTuYv_yWmEs My thanks as always to the organising crew. I missed the MLU get together as well. My tip for next year, do not share a small room with world class snorers. Finally got an hours sleep in the back of the Humber, but was asleep on my feet by lunchtime. So it was home to bed. STILL feeling sorry for myself.... Rich.

For those who are interested the awards this year went to:
1. Mal Mackay Memorial Award: Steve Dietmann who is always happy, enjoys meeting everybody and sharing information on vehicles. He is very helpful and an all round good fellow as a collector and restorer. 2. Hard Luck award: Tom Rolfe who was 2 hours from home and the generator packed it in. 3. Breakdown Award: Ray Edsall arrived at Corowa on the back of a truck after his generator on the Dodge carryall seized. 4. Longest distance travelled in a military vehicle went toGary Schluter from Perth in a Landrover with a speedo on the blink. 5. Encouragement Award: Jake Neville who is the youngest military vehicle restorer and owner. He also received nominations for People's Favourite Choice. 6. People's Favourite Choice: went to Rick Cove for his 1916 Albion Each of the participant packs contained a Voting Form and this is the way we determine the Award Winners. Thanks for those people who submitted their forms by Midday on Saturday. Below is another weary participant still at Corowa

For those that might be interested I will have the Marmon Herrington, gun and limber at the Winchelsea Living History weekend on 9-10 April. It will be set up and firing (blanks) during re-enactments along with another 25 pounder. And a lot of other stuff.

I just got back home to the UK yesterday. My ten days at Corowa were very enjoyable, catching up with many old friends, and meeting some new faces whom I had only communicated by internet. Thank you to everyone who made me most welcome there. This was my 5th visit to the event, but not having been since 2001, it is now much larger of course, but the friendly atmosphere is still there. With so many things to do and people to talk to, I am sorry if I missed anyone.
regards, Richard
