Default matting

Bill

I have seen some of it . Farmers used it . I once spotted some along a fence . One reason it's so scarce is: after the war scrappies went up to the islands and removed litterally tons of it .

In the Solomons , all of the well engineered wartime bridges were torn down by scrappies and sold , instead of leaving them in situ for the locals to use . A friend of mine in his collection has a catalogue printed by a company around 1947 , a sale of items on offer on a island near New Guinea . This mob had bought the whole islands WW2 surplus , airfields , the lot . They even chartered a ship and took potential buyers up to look over the goodies

G'day Bill

I recently bought 8 lengths off an old retired concreting guy who had them stash in his back yard.

These six mats are currently sitting on a building site here in Perth. They are used by the builder to prevent vehicles getting bogged onsite.

Hello all,
Bob, I am not sure of the standard length but if it is no longer than 10 ft per piece then 2 lengths would satisfy my cravings! Thanks for the info gentlemen.
cheers
Bill

Default Price quote.

Contacted the US dealer.....asked for a quote on 12 mats. Shipping is from Oklahoma to upper NY state.

"The pierced steel mats are $44.00 each. I can not ship them on UPS because of the size. If I send them by motor freight to a business address in Ogdensburg it would cost an additional $242.00 for a total of $770.00."

Maybe cheaper for you guys in Australia to buy a steamship and pick it up yourself.... shipping would be a killer.

I have asked if there was a magical number of mats that could be more price efficient...ie a bundle.... will post info when received.

Wonder if I asked Santa Claus for Xmas.......

Bob
