A newbie question if you don't mind. I've begun stripping down the hull of our Mk 1* and the steering linkages, etc. are a corroded mess. I suppose 50 years open to the weather will do that. I've been scratching my head about shafts for operating the clutch and brake. Does the clutch shaft run through the brake shaft? It's kinda hard to tell and I'm hoping not to bust anything that can be salvaged.
Thanks very much, Mike Snetsinger Whitby, Ontario |

Welcome to the forum, and yes it does. There is a collar on the brake pedal end, with a split pin through it, that holds the whole lot together.

Hi Lynn,
Thanks very much for the welcome and response. I guess tomorrow I'll be looking for the remains of a cotter pin. That plus more heat and a bigger hammer. Cheers, Mike |
