I did a bit of pannel beating while it was wet outside, most of the holes closed over oxy and fencing wire will fix the rest.
The thread on the tyre carrier freed up nicely. Rick I think the locking bar may be a 16" thing as there is a picture on the Willanthry restoration showing two tyre carriers back to back and the smaller one has this bar, also it appears on 16" carriers on refrence photos on Old CMP. ![]()

Robert, Well done, I didn't think it would take too much work to free up the thread. I have only seen one other locking device on a spare wheel carrier before.
Home from hospital yesterday, 4+ hours in an ambulamce flat on your back is not the way I enjoy travel. Regards Rick.

I had the tractor home to put the forks on it yesterday so I took the opportunity to tip the tray up to work on the bottom. A good clean and a bit of cut and paste needed.

I need pictures or drawings of what goes between the spare tyre/ toolbox carrier and the chassis. I need to know what holes are used and the gap between the chassis and frame. Thank you for any help.

Which isnt saying much...
May give you some help Robert... You can see a new high tensile bolt holding the bracket that attaches the spare wheel carrier frame to the Chassis. Basically the Bracket you are seeking looks like a big piece of angle iron.

There are tractor and drag car transmission blankets, however, what i expect should be available a roll of noise insulation. where and how or what brand? |

Dennis I used Dynamat extreme it is self adhesive and regularly listed on ebay, it deadned the noise a bit but manily it cut the heat in the cab.
Tony thank you for the picture, combined with Col's faxed drawings I have a good idea of what I'm up against now. I think I'll try and get the tray on first as that will mean I can still drive on the road as my ambition is to drive to Corowa 2012. ![]()

Robert,
It will be great to see it at Corowa. As it is the 'year of the 6x6' are you also going to fit another axle and make it a mini C15X Rick.

![]() Now for the question what gap do I leave for the tool box/ spare carrier? Bob I'll pass for now see you in Mach and you can try out your salesman skills. ![]()

Hi Robert - I see you also need/might need a tailgate for your CI body. I have a contact who has made one and as stated in another thread we could always coerce Colin to make them. At this stage two are required, yours and our spare.

Bob I have a tailgate but it needs work and new latches so it will be hidden in a corner for a while yet.

I don't have to drive carefully now the body is bolted down. Thanks for the rough measurements Keith I started with your sugestion and riggled the body around until the bolts fitted past any obsticles and ended up with a gap that is plus 40mm either side of the tool box.
![]() The last picture shows my fathers day present it's very handy for cutting timber in tight spaces.

I fitted the fire extinguisher today as there is no time at the moment to clean it up and it will be harder to misplace if it is in the bracket.

Finally got the angles pressed, I had to go with straight angles as the local engineers couldnt get the slight "s" in the side without making an expensive die. I now have to cut the taper and work out the bolt patern.
