get a petrol unit and run LPG plenty of space for the gas tank ?

LPG is especially hard on the valve train of engines. It is also no longer cheap, and worst of all, does not like the cold, which Canada is known for.

As to the multifuel, I have always taken that as meaning it can run on a lesser grade of fuel in an emergency, but not for day to day driving as the problems it will cause will outweigh the savings.

I do not have any experience with the Diesel FV432s, but I did own a gasoline model. Plenty of ooomph on that powerplant, and it would start right down to -30 without any startup aids. Came in handy too on the bad snow days.

For those of you commenting on this thread from poor Old Blighty I should enlighten you that todays cost of diesel was $1.27 per litre, a far cry from what you people ge stiffed for.

The petrol (gasoline) conversions to LPG are not common as you are used to.

What does an FV423 run you any way, I have yet to see any for sale in Canada!

Just got off the horn, fully functioning and low hrs unit, 9K CAD after conversion, Located in england. Just if any one was interested lol.

on the phone? So you have not had the opportunity to test it, inspect it, drive it, compare it? Something wrong there chum.

To buy such a beast from overseas is more of a schmozzle and risk than you are portraying, unless you like chucking dollar bills into a strong wind.

Then you have delivery to port after the export papers are done, sea freight, import duties etc, dock fees, cleaning fees, if it wasn't done properly in the UK, trucking fees within Canada and so it goes on.

There is a lot more to buying from abroad than you can imagine.

Default Surplus 432's

This was a few years ago but the Suffield 432's went to Wheat City Salvage in Sask. Most were gassers but some diesels went later. They had no problem selling them to anyone with money. Jack Guthrie bought a couple, one was given to the Calgary Police.

I think they started disposing of them in 1995 for Gas and 2000 for Diesels in Canada. Long shot but Rob Love would probably know more since he's still out west and his most likely came from that herd.
