We could also add S.I.R. after it as well for Seriously Into Rust
![]() In my case S.I.R. stands for Seriously Irrisistable Roo!

ARN should be painted near the door on the LHS of the body, and possibly elsewhere too.

Hi Tony The pic had me thinking that you had uncovered an unrecognizable mobile radar cabin. The AWM caption suggests that it is most likely a van used for photographic work carried out by a Survey Company. I sure looks as if it might have been a mobile radar cabin.

123808 was a 'Trailer, 4 wheel, Camera Type AE' built on a No.1 Local Pattern 4 wheel trailer by Ritchie Brothers, who supplied many of the specialist trailers to the Australian Army. The really curious thing about this particular one is that it was not disposed of until 1977: that's nearly 34 years of service!

This trailer has been on Kijiji in Ottawa for a few years listed as an old military trailer and I got thinking that the chassis reminded me of the ones in the recent radar tracking 1947 photo post.
Could this be the chassis of the GL III (c) Radar No 4 MK1 ZPI CDN? It has some similar features but the wooden tray and small front wheels make it difficult to be certain. Just in case I'd thought I'd post the pics here. |

Jason That trailer is not the chassis for the Radar AA No 4 Mk 1 (ZPI unit ). See photo of KVE (Aus) restoration of a ZPI radar van for use as a mobile office at their annual Swim In.
