Thanks Alan ! West yorkshire is not far for me at all... i have about 8 wheels need doing plus 4 on the carrier itself.
Marc:- the chap in North shields gave me a quote but was loaded up with work he was not very interested to be fair.... the other contact was located near london and was cost prohibitive to send stuff to... he did say he would do bulk discount ? i can start the ball rolling again with the new contacts provided it wont take me long to get some quotes through

Thank you for the company info. Have you ever done business with them or do you know of others who have? Richard, that would be nice. I can bring wheels coming to Beltring. Would need to find a way to get them to you or one of these companies though. Let's see what they quote. Cheers,

Have you checked out polyurethane? You can get it as hard as you want and it is tougher,so I'm told. I checked with a company in Saskatoon,and poly was cheaper than rubber also.

Guys,
I just received the price quote from Metso Minerals in North Bay. My contact there is quoting $588.00 Cdn per tire. They will strip off the old tire, sandblast the entire rim, apply primer and rubber cement, apply 2nd stage rubber bonding agent and new tire, vulcanize rubber, trim, buff and paint. How does this price compare to polyurethane?

Thats crazy. There is a place in the US that will do all that in poly for under 100 to a halftrack boogie. LOL, maybe there is more to a carrier than halftrack.

Guys,
Back to the drawing board. I am quoting out both smooth rubber (70D) and polyurethane 20" OD forklift tires. I have found a local machine shop that can press forklift tires onto rims. The have a lathe big enough to hold, part off and machine a 20" forklift tire. The $205.00 each price is very good, the almost $600 price isn't in our budget. I will let post to MLU, under a new thread, as soon as I find out. Richard

In theory shouldn't any place that can redo forklift tires work?
I'm in need of redoing my half track boogies, thunder bay is at-least in the same province as me, but Toronto area would be alot cheaper in shipping

its finding a firm that does the correct hardness of rubber....too soft and it will shred in no time at all....too hard and it will shatter like glass.
