Hi Mike - what a brilliant set of photographs. I love the old machinery. I sold one of those Jerry Cans at Corowa but here there are thousands. Not too many workers wearing safety gear, those were the days.

You can almost hear the deafening background noise..... the heat from the furnace.... the smell..... no concern for paint or solvent fumes in those days.
Amazed at the tight working conditions with the moving conveyor belt directly behind them.... the pace must have been horrandous...... ....with a minimum of safety devices or guards for the operators.... they may not have been soldiers but they sure made a valiant war effort. We owe them. Bob
