Default I found numbers !

Well, after a year of working on this thing I have finally found numbers stamped into the front sloping armor plate(glacis plate? ) The same no. is stamped into the first deflector angle from the front. The no. is 83-309. Does this # mean anything ? If anyone can give me some info it would be great. When the # was stamped it looks like they used a " 1 " sideways to make a " - " .
Strange, I have looked for a number in this location for months and all of a sudden, there it was. I saw it while I was climbing over the front to work on the steering linkage.
