Hi Rob, what about that green stuff that is used for treating end cuts on pressure treat lumber? As far as I know, it is some sort of chromate stuff.
I believe it is called "end cut preservative" and it comes in gallon cans. It is thin like stain and requires constant mixing to keep the pigments mixed. It contains either copper or zinc napthenate depending on manufacturer. I know Home Depot , TimBr-Mart and various building supply stores carry it. It is a lighter green colour and takes a while to dry. Alternatively, you can purchase the stuff intended for wood foundation (sub-grade) and it is a dark green colour I believe. Probably available out West as we do not use wood foundations here very much as you guys do out there. There is also the alternative of using green stain (yes, it is available) from many of the various dealers.

Rob....you're going to be SOL. The paint industry has changed so much in the last few years, getting the stuff that really works is impossible to obtain. I can see what I can do for you, wholesale, through my suppliers, who have stores in Winnipeg. Did you want to match the green on the side???. Do you have a paint sprayer, preferably airless???
PM me and we'll talk. Cheers....Robert (Van Pro Decorating Ltd) |
