Just curious, how many CMP 3 toners (60 CWT), either Chev or Ford, restored, licensed and are on the road in Canada today. Robert

Robert,
Regrettably the number of "up and running" 60 cwts is very low in Canada but there are some out there. Here is what comes to mind immediately: C60's The Ontario Regiment Museum, Oshawa Dan McCaw, Coe Hill, Ontario. Andre Gibeault (wrecker) in Quebec Marc Belanger, Montreal F60's private owner in Havelock, Ontario The Bomber Command Museum in Nanton, Alberta http://www.bombercommandmuseum.ca/vehicles.html Hope this helps. Be nice to your truck - it is an endangered species. Brian |

Hi Robert
You ask such a great question could we expand it to how many CMPs are currently on the road world wide? Much along the line of the tread of Bob Fasts MLU country thread leaders??? What do you think, lets try and get a snap shot of what CMPs are on the road what they are and where? Suggested status: Registered for the Road Under Restoration but drive-able Un-restored but drive-able What do you think? Cheers Phil

Hi Phil: Sounds great to me. Your categories also work. I would suggest the year, model and serial numbers. Then a small catalogue could be kept. Photos, as you have suggested, definitely!! And if the owners are lucky, you could have your vehicle listed on Wikpedia, like my 3 tonner was.
It's funny how many non members read this forum, for all sorts of info. A couple of months ago, on this forum, a member was looking for measurements and details for a WW1 Enfield Grenade cup. I sent him photos and plans to make one. A couple of weeks ago, I received an email from a young girl who was desperate to find info for the same item. I sent her the same plans and photos and she just about crapped herself. Thanked me profusely and told me it was something to do with "Star Wars". Movie industry I guess, as she was from Southern California or as the younger generation say Socal. Does any one have a dictionary for that generation???? So, where do we go from here? I will be doing a photo shoot of my 2 CMP's and post them on the forum. This will happen when the G'D rain stops! So Phil, take it from here....Robert ![]() |

I think there's a lot of those out there that will either be a treasure trove for the lucky, or scrapped when the current owner passes away. Last edited by Hanno Spoelstra; 10-05-12 at 00:17. Reason: please don't quote entire posting |

Lynn: Nice to hear from you. In respect to the amount of 60CWT's made as well as all the other CMP variants and how few are left today....maybe not a bad idea. Still no steering wheel

All I am trying to say is that what Phil is suggesting takes a heck of a lot of time. But be my guest, MLU is the platform to share such information! Here are a couple of examples for those interested in compiling the "Surviving CMPs Register":

Hey Hanno: Been working on stencils and markings for the C60L. Going through the shelf of books and binders and came across a binder called CMP INFODEX by Peter J Ford of Canada. Published back in the 80's from what I can see. Ever heard of it? Robert

Hi All
My aim was a much less grant effort than a full registry besides why duplicate the current web effort. That has been done, as Hanno comments and requires a great deal of work as the efforts of people like John Merchants, Work Play with Ex-Military Vehicles, or Peter Ford's Infoex, or web based Canadian Register http://www.canadianregister.co.uk/index.html has shown. These efforts have collected a great deal of information. What I was trying to suggesting was a much more modest Snap Shot of MLU readers about what we currently have out there running around in 2012. Cheers Phil

Hi Guys:
The LAAT is running and plated at the Swords and Ploughshares Museum near Ottawa. The C60X is running but not yet plated and the C60 is under restoration as a Instrument Repair Van. A LAAT is no good without a Bofors Gun! ![]() ![]() ![]()
