The CFR will not be there if the arm was ever changed. Try some paint strippers, or else fine sandpaper, but don't be too surprised if nothing is there.
One could normally find it painted on the sides of the trailer as well, but generally these were sandblasted away during the life extension project in the early 80s. Still can be found on the early releases from the Trudeau military downsizing era. |

The sourcing of parts continues. For instance, I found an intervehicle cable along with four salvaged tarp hooks on epay. (There was an internet browser conflict that damn near made me personna non grata on ebay when I couldn't make paypal work!) Brian Asbury responded with a NOS lunette, a salvage tool box, 2x NOS lights and a new-build wiring harness.
There is no base for the tool box, and both Brian and local Jeeper Eric Booth have volunteered measurements and drawings. Likewise Eric mentioned the wiring harness guard would be easy to reproduce. Two major tasks remain, namely unsticking the seized (on, phew!) brakes and repairing/making a new back panel to replace the cutout back end.

You may want to look up Harry Moons trailer restoration on the restoration part of this. he took the drum and all the brakes off the axle ends all in one piece and then he'll remove the siezed brak cylinder and shoes etc.
Put lots of eds red along the gap or where one should be between the drum and the backing plate. eds red one part acetone the other auto trans fliud equal parts shaken together. the wia then hit it hard...they'll loosen up. Ask harry about his and you may save a lot of grunt and time. Good luck!

Three things happened this evening worth mentioning. Armybuck041 came by in his M151 1/4 ton. My son and I went for a quick ride around the block. He also dropped off 2x AMU top mounts for my M38A1's future radio installation. AND, I found the CFR for my M100 trailer.
As indicated by the others, the registration number was there on the left arm of the tongue, about halfway along, under 8 layers of assorted paint. This trailer has a manufacturer's serial number of 1246 on the dataplate, and the CFR is 53-71233. The dash, as the guys have said, a sideways number 1. Useful and fun!

D&L Bensinger Ltd has a series of Youtube videos on converting an M100 trailer to MB including body, hubs, bearings, handbrake and landing leg repairs.
My favourite redneck TV channel has a show called Powerblock TV. And they had a segment on rebuilding drum brakes ( Basic Budget Builds and The Great Race, MC2012-10 http://www.powerblocktv.com/player/s...-10&ep_show=MC ) Learn something new everyday.
