Hanno, the dagger in the centre of the inverted triangle indicates that the tank in the photo belongs to "A" Squadron of one of the three army tank battalions of the 2nd Canadian Army Tank Brigade, with the photo itself having been taken in either Camp Borden or at the Meaford Tank Range sometime during their training, from the time of the brigade’s formation (January 1942) and their departure for the UK, in the spring of 1943.

This same 'dagger' was worn as a sleeve badge by units of the brigade in 1942/1943, much like the 'Ram' sleeve badge worn by units of the 1st Canadian Army Tank Brigade, in 1941/1942.
