Hi All,
Thought I would post my display of WWII anti-gas equipment I put on at the annual Military collectors club of Canada convention held here last weekend 3 minutes from my place.

It takes a certain degree of obsession to collect one of everything within a certain range of interest. Good for you!

There is no degrees involved with Derk. He is simply obsessed. He will eat Kraft dinner all winter to save money, have the house temperature set at 10°C, yet be buying these things off ebay and paying shipping from the UK.

Looks like there is enough for a book in the "UpClose" series by Service Publications.

I am not smart enough to write a book but can definitely supply pictures to anybody willing to do the book. One is definitely needed as there are no books covering in detail the anti-gas equipment and it's uses.David Gordon's book on the Equipment of the WWII Tommy was a great help to me when I needed information and probably the best one out there but there is alot of information on development of marks filters, productions in Canada etc. yet to be told.Anybody willing to start a book would get my help as well as other collectors and their anti-gas items I am sure.
Thanks,Derk.

Some things never change Derk - I still remember your displays of Canadian 37 Patt webbing you had back a 'few' years.
Very nice display. If possible could you post a picture of a couple of your labels/descriptions, I'm still doing up my displays and am always looking for styles etc for descriptions. Eric (Ottawa) |

Hi Eric,
Yes I am still collecting but lately have been slowing down due to lack of energy and money! The paycheck doesn't go far nowadays and buying lots of Jeep parts this summer at the MVPA convention in Huntsville,Alabama (and a 2007 Ford Crown Victoria ex-RCMP car from crown assets 4 days before I left for holidays didn't help) left the credit card a little warm so I need to sell some spare stuff around here that I no longer need, which seems to be the only way I part with stuff! David Gordon's book Equipment of the WWII tommy helped me alot with information as well as the original manuals on Anti-gas equipment that explain most of the items and their uses.Let me know what information you are after and I can look it up and send it to you. Regards,Derk.
