Hey all,
Here are some pics of today, Dirk is helping with an old tool to get Barry's generator in place. The generator might not be correct, but this one got quite some history, maybe Barry can tell us more about it. One more, that's it for today! Cheers, Stefan |

Thanks guys, the nice part of the F60H restoring is starting now I guess.
This morning playing in the snow for Stefan (no Barry, not in Castleton). 10 cm snow is for us in Broek op Langedijk a lot, for you guys on the other side of the pond, maybe nothing ? Dirk |

The first picture of the F60H is taken during my first visit to Canada in 1989.
The other two pics a couple of years later. Lots of memory's when I walk around over the yard from the Elliott brothers, George and Don in Newtonville. I know the yard is almost "empty" but the coffee is always fress for our Dutch guys. Dirk |

Dirk - thanks for posting the "before" pictures. You and Stefan have done an amazing job restoring a very early and rare CMP.

Beautiful job Dirk. Must be one of the earliest C60X that has survived.... did it have original ID tags??
Was the truck actually driven with 16 in. tires by the Elliott crew or was is just used for moving it around in the yard??? Would love to see some close up pictures of that Generator you installed. Bob C.

Until then I hope everyone can understand and help you in your illness. When I saw the generator, it reminded me of the one you got from Jim Fraser. (I think we decided the one from Jim is a Homelite HRH-28, originally for use in M3 medium tanks, possibly other later tanks too?) |

Hi all,
I wonder if someone can help me for getting the right Canadian markings and WD number on our F60H wrecker cab 11 truck. I found a war time picture from an F60H workshop truck in the Ommen region (from the town website), but no luck sofar for a wrecker pic. (cab 11 6x4) Thanks, Stefan Last edited by Stefan Leegwater; 12-05-13 at 19:34. |

Beste Stefan
There are others on this forum with much more knowledge on this subject than me but I would guess that you would want RCEME (Royal Canadian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers}markings. They were formed from the Service Corps in 1944 and I presume you want to portray NW Europe. I am not sure how the light aid detachments fit in perhaps Mark or someone can fill us in on those details. I have not been able to get any more info on the photos of the wrecker with Janet's uncle. Too many people have passed on. I did find out he finished the war in Staghounds. I will keep digging. Mvg, Barry

Hey Barry,
Thanks, yes it is too bad that the guys from those days are not so much around anymore, but RCEME was indeed an option, Cheers, Stefan |

Stefan,
I spent quite some time over the past years looking for vehicle pictures in Dutch online archives and allthough I found quite a number of pics of Monkey faces, I am very surprised you found a pic of an F60H in Holland...well done! I imagine finding a pic of an F60H wrecker would be the holy grail. And although you never know for sure, I think your best bet would be to "copy" the AoS of a Diamond T wrecker, or maybe an C60S wrecker. That does leave you with the census number though.... Alex

The Diamond T pictures I dropped off at Dirk were a bit late, but maybe they give you some ideas for details....like the logs that some Canadian Diamond wreckers carried on the booms. And maybe white bands on the bumper? Alex p.s. Fitted the brass brake block from Dirk today. Will post some pics soon.

As a former EME mechanic, I adore the truck. Just gorgeous.
Have to wonder about the crate of demolition charges next to the gas cans though. ![]() |
