Default Roll Over

Rob and Clive,
I was in a MLVW roll over in 1985 while doing my TQ3 Infantry with the Militia in Petawawa while I was with the 2 IR RC. 18 troops in the back and 3 in the front. 2 bows kept the whole thing from laying flat on its roof. Luckily someone decided to leave the FNC1's at the bivowac as we were going to the rocket range. I wish I had a photo to show how the roof folded like a beer can. I do have a few pictures from my TQ3 Crewman that might show some CFR's

The info I am seeking is generic; date of intro, date of taken out of service, different SEVs/Qties, etc...
Photo needs are also generic as these are for an upcoming Weapons of War title. If I get enough info I will add to RamTank.ca with CFrs and photos.

Cheers,
C

I have had no luck finding the MOST pubs which are somewhere in the basement. To date I have only found one issue, along with one portion of the training package.

The MLVW will still be in service in the regular force for another 3-5 years according to the guys who work on them. This is evidenced by the tender requests for parts....the quantities of stock they are looking to buy, considering they are only dealing with about half the old fleet, are considerable. As well, the trucks which were scheduled for destruction, in this area at least, are now being held for cannibalization to keep the remaining fleet operational.

I may be able to help.

I'm the token RegF guy working RSS at a Militia Unit here in the NCR. I think we may even have an MLVW or two, if not, I'm certain one of the other three Units in the Armoury has one. Books shouldn't be a problem. Anything specific you're after? PM me.

Ditto. I will soon have duties including a handful of low-mileage MLVWs. But I am very uncertain what paperwork there is at hand.

One of my challenges is identifying the many SEVs and their relevant ECCs.

I have a large poster downstairs of a MLVW, however I believe it is the prototype/trials truck. The CFR is out of whack for a MLVW, and there are a few anomalies on it.

Note that the mirrors are attached above the doors, the hood is held down with metal catches, there is no heater inlet (heater not installed?), the headlights have no brush guards, and the instruction plates on the side gates are not the long Cdn bilingual type. Also, it does not have a Jerry can holder on the step. Lastly, it is not camouflaged, which a truck from the 80s should have been.

There is something odd on the hood over the hood safety latch....no idea what is going on there.
