Carrier Headlight Question
What is the number currently of the small top bulb on the reflector?
What is the number of the large bulb? Is it currently available? On the back of the large bulb socket are numbers 2 & 3. Which one is ground? Anyone help? Peter S |

The small bulbs are shown in the manual as Mazda number 82. Wagner part number is BP82. That is the industry number for that particular bulb. They are on ebay all the time, rock auto carries them as well. I could not find them on the NAPA site but they likely will have them as well. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Westinghouse...-/230986442534 This guy's price is a little out of whack. Rock auto charges just under $1 each, and you could likley buy them from an auto parts store. They may be used in the larger 6 volt flashlights as well. The 82 has two contacts on the bottom.
I have always just used the headlamp bulbs that are available from Mac's. Although the carrier shows a single filement bulb, you can use the standard double filament (hi/lo) commercial bulb and wire it appropriately. Which wire would be ground should not matter, since the terminals are isolated form the base. Last edited by rob love; 12-06-13 at 16:46. |

Holy necro-threads batman....this was a discussion from 4 years ago...back from the dead.
You are right Ross, however notable is that you have quoted NAPA in the USA. I had a look on a new resource tool I have here at work, and they are available from NAPA in Canada under stock number 82. Retail is $2.01 and our trade price is 1.30. Note that if you end up with the headlight reflector from a truck, they use a smaller bulb. Those would be a bulb no 55 . They are also available from NAPA (and in stock at our local NAPA too) for retail $1.82 and trade price of $1.17 |

Aaaaaaand to make it more complicated, what would be the 6v LED replacement? I am thinking to get some brighter light yet stay with the original 6V electrical system.
ANy leads, comments, thoughts on LEDs? |

Be aware too that the wattage of 6v globes appear lower than 12v, but the current is doubled ie a 35w 6v globe will draw twice the current as a 35w 12v globe. The wiring on a 6v vehicle is a heavier gauge, and can support much more powerful globes, if you convert to 12v.

Well since this thread is revived, I might as well add that this chap in UK sells a range of LED bulbs and light boards in 6V and 12V. I fitted one of my 6V motorcycles out with direct replacement LED bulbs in headlamp, side lamp and stop/tail. I have a feeling he even does a dipping headlamp bulb now?
