Default The War and Peace Revival 2013 - formerly known as "Beltring"

Hi all,

For those who did not know it already, as of 2013 the War & Peace show is no longer to be held at the Hop Farm at Beltring, but is now known as The War and Peace Revival at a venue called RAF Westenhanger – Folkestone Racecourse, Hythe, Kent.

I was wondering who is planning to go to the re-incarnation of "Beltring" this year? I am planning to take my two boys for the weekend, arriving at Friday night.

Who will be there, too?

Regards,
Hanno

Hi Hanno,

Will be there all week, with a three man contingent from Australia joining me. While at Corowa last month there was a lot of interest from others and quite a number are coming from Down Under. I visited the site in February and reckon it will be a better show than before.

Default Probably only the once..

I'll be there this year...sounds like an awesome experience.

Thanks Richard for organising a ticket for myself and a mate of mine.

Looking forward to meeting MLU lads and putting faces to names, perhaps enjoying the odd beer with one or two

Is the ground at War and Peace comfortable??

That's great news Tony!

Looks like we have to organise some sort of impromptu MLU "meet & greet"........

May I suggest Friday evening? Is anyone setting up a proper camp. Or do we gather round Richard's Bedford QL? All suggestions are welcome.

Hanno

Good on you Richard - appreciate the local knowledge - invaluable.

A gathering around the Bedford sounds like an excellent suggestion to me Hanno.

Default Hard ground

Is the ground at War and Peace comfortable??

I slept on the ground at the Beltring War and Peace in 2003 Tony. It was hard. However if you soak the inside of your stomach with several litres of HGSS, (Hard Ground Softening Solution) you will sleep like a baby. Luckily they had a tent dispensing said solution on site. There must have been hundreds of people sleeping on the ground that night. They were all dosing liberally on the stuff.

It was very soft ground last year, more like a water bed

Default Transport to War and Peace 2013

Hi, If anyone needs vehicle transport to war and peace this year, going down next Monday and coming back on the Sunday evening or Monday, we have a spare space on the lorry, (craned beavertail). If anyone is interested in the south norfolk, beccles/lowestoft/norwich area please let me know, there and back would be £300 total.

Kevin.

Default Bonjourno Boys!

Im about to head over to London from Milan. Get into Heathrow then to Charing Cross to Westenhanger and War and Peace.

Look forward to meeting a few people and hopefully having a look at what some of you lads are bringing to the show.

I think I may have sunburnt eyeballs by the end of the week.

Cant wait.

Default Its over

What can I say? What an fabulous experience, thoroughly enjoyed myself and met some terrific people.

I cant post photos at the moment but will as soon as I get the opportunity. I think Richard Farrant will no doubt be on here shortly to give some specifics of the event. Many thanks again to you mate and to Rob for helping find a bed and a place to stay.

James Gosling also spoiled me by letting me have a cruise with him and a couple of great blokes, another James and Andy in his superbly restored Otter. It was an experience I will never forget.

Great to meet some other MLUers I'll be more specific with photo's in the days to come.

Hi Tony,
Good to see you over here and to get first taste of the new site, which is going to develop into a great show. The weather has been exceptional too ... see how much we laid on for you and the rest of the Aussies who were at the show ....... wall to wall sunshine. Glad to hear you enjoyed yourself.

regards, Richard
