I was looking to buy a few but they are incorect in the sense that they do not have the observer hatch on the passenger side and the roundel on top is centered as it should be on the driver's side.
Too bad there was not attention to detail. Bob

Hi Bob. Are you saying that these LAATs are wrong because they don't have a roof hatch or cupola? In the past I have owned four of them i.e. two F30 and two F60s, and none of them were so fitted.

Just cut out of piece of plastic and glue if you want an observation hatch...simple. A more fundemental error by Oxford is on Bedford OY where fuel tank and spare wheel are reversed, but even then just detach turn around and re-glue. Oxford Scammell is a little weird though !

Roof hatch was optional on CMPs and if not fitted the roundel was centred. You can just make it out in this photo, I have some more obvious examples but can't seem to lay my hands on them right now.

For the price these are excellent and nice to see a company producing early war British and Commonwealth vehicles , instead of endless Yank and German stuff

In addition, the CMP with the roundel on the roof has the formation and unit signs reversed.

Thanks for setting me straight guys.
I have indeed now oberved CMP's without observer hatches . What can i say , i like hatches . They are like sunroofs on sports cars . Except they are available on WW2 ,historic, fun , rare and amazingly durable trucks . Made in Canada were we can't open them because it is bloody too cold 2/3 ' of the year ! Cheers ! ![]() Robert

Hi All
I've been reading the thread with interest about CMPs with and without observer hatches. In the back of my mind I remember seeing photos of Pat 12&13s in North Africa which showed the no hatch version with rondels. As well as photos of Pat 12 with hatch and rondel in the middle and then one with no hatch and the rondel over the driver. Just took me a while to find them, many of these photos have previously been posted on MLU. All this goes to show that there were many many interpretations of the instructions for the air recognition symbols. Cheers Phil
