There was the Chauchat, a French LMG that was reputed to be amongst the worst in the world, but I never heard of NZ using them in any quantity. The French Hotchkiss was used in reasonable numbers by NZ forces towards the end of WW1, and likely afterwards.

It is a gun mount for a Hotchkiss. I lent my mount to a collector who tried it with a Hotchkiss and it fitted ok.
