Just to pick up on the old thread,

FMC was actually FMC Corporation: Food Machinery and Chemical Corporation, later became simply FMC Corporation. Manufactured LVTs during WW2, and M113 FOV post war, as well as the Bradley, etc. A wholly USA company which, by the 1960s, operatded AFV manufacturing plants in San Jose, CA, and Charleston, West Virginia.

FMC in Australia was, pre-war, EITHER Ford Motor Company or Ford Manufacturing Company: when the Ford company came to Australia in the 1920s, they established two parallel companies, one as the manufacturing arm, the other as the sales arm. By the beginning of WW2, the manufacturing 'company' had been absorbed as part of the overall Ford operation in Australia, and the name was dropped. FMC was a common logo on Ford company items in WW2 in Australia, such as shown on the No.4 Trailer nomenclature plate.
