Chris has it right on the brackets. Perhaps the manual should have said SMG as opposed to MG, but often the engineers were not soldiers. If you are missing any of those brackets the old deuces are one of the best places to find them, usually located in the two corners of the cab behind the driver. I think Brian Asbury may have them as well, or did at one time.
The LAW brackets were supposed to be installed on almost all the SMP vehicles of the time. They were under the seats of the M113, and could be installed on the outside of the hull of the Ferrets. There were a dished bracket about a foot or so long with a velcro strap that held the rocket launcher tube in place. They could be a little harder to find. I would have to check my stock numbers for the introduction date, but the first aid kit of the 70s was the brown plastic box with the red cross on top. They are getting hard to find these days. Also common, but perhaps not official, were signals satchels filled with the appropriate items. |

Funny you mentioned the satchel signals as a field mod option for first aid supplies.
I have one so modified with the standard red and white cross painted on it.

Hello Frank,
Well sort of. Officially it was called "TRUCK, UTILITY, HIGH MOBILITY, 1 1/4 TON, 4 X 4" & referred to in the literature as a RAM. It was built by Chrysler in 1969. |

The brown first aid kits are compliant with some European driving rule. Probably German. When I started exploring my VW Jetta, I found the brown box fit perfectly into a hard foam compartment. I have seen white and medium green flip lid boxes too.
I just did a search on epay to see what is posted for VW first aid kit. There are a couple of choices. Right size wrong markings.
