I always use the standard Ford spring mount kit as well as thick rubber, although I'm not sure they were used originally. They don't appear in the CMP manual but they're commonly found on Ford CMPs in Australia. Whether or not they help much is questionable, as the spring is almost incompressible! They're available much cheaper than this mob below but I can't recall where I've bought them in the past.
