Here's those carrying straps off the erection of 11 set video and they seem to be just a basic 1" wide strap.
Mike, I always seem to have too many irons in the fire to work on the C8.
One of these days-----

Well, I bought 4 of the 1" wide straps off ebay, then took them apart and reassembled 2 of them for the carrying straps. They look like they were made for the job.

I got this Morse key off ebay in NZ for $20. It's dated 1940. Shipping was only $15. Stuff from the States is double that.
Does the Morse key use the same plug as the microphone? I ask because I have a few spares of those.

I got this watch off ebay. The holder is off one of my 19 sets but it looks like it's the same as the 11 set one.

I think it was a standard item used with a number of wireless sets and even a few receivers. Not sure when it first came into use, however.

The original was plated brass and used on very early wireless sets, along with "Watch, Non-Magnetic, W/T" (which was actually cheaper than the standard pocket watch and had an iron instead of brass case). It ended up with with a stores code when they got around to numbering stuff, but was replaced by the bakelite version (which kept the same designation & code), presumably when they realised they would need them in large quantities and it was quicker and cheaper to use plastic.

Chris.

The Morse key showed up today. It's marked WT 8AMP NO2. On the back it has
WER
1940 with a circle around it.
This isn't the one for the 11 set, is it? I think the 11 set one should be a ZA2500. What else would this one be for in 1940?

I believe the correct VAOS # is ZA4500. There were two types, #2B & 2C.
These are WT8 No. 2 keys.

Louis Meulstee has a free download available on morse keys at http://www.wftw.nl/keyandplugv1%2003m.pdf

On page 8 there are photos of the Canadian key which has a 1940 date.

According to Bruce's link, the Morse key would have been used with the 11 set too.
Does anyone have a spare mounting plate for one?
Those latches off my bit of junk weren't quite a bolt on item. The latch housings were threaded where the 11 set ones weren't. It was a simple job to drill the holes out and countersink them.
One of the 11 set castings was split but I didn't need them anyway.
Kevin, I now have two spare latch housings but there's no deadbolt assemblies.
