| two wicker types of 18-pounder baskets

WW-1 we see two types of wicker cartridge baskets: 1) with 4 wooden sticks on the outside to change the cone (shape of cartridge) into a cylinder . 2) idem, but without sticks, but extra wicker rings with protecting leather. The last we see them used on mules, hanging from the saddle. photo libre Who knows if the 2nd type was used in a limber or ammunition carriage? I don’t have a photo that proves this. Koos |
