The initial mounts for the 2" mortar as installed at the factory on the C31UCW series NO-2 MK-II* carriers were subsequently upgraded and a replacement mount installed on later serial numbers as well as retrofitting some carriers. (more support leading to greater accuracy, faster clamping and release levers vs large wingnuts?) Additionally the bracket was modified with composite inserts both under the mortar and against each side of the armour plate. A stiffening plate was added on the front armour that incorporated the side marker light mount. Some details can be found in Universal Carriers Vol II by Watson.

Have a look at Shaun's 'Puddle Jumper', or Tobin's T-16 MK-I to see the updated model in the UK. The modified mount is quite distinct. I have not seen any later model mounts in Canada.
