The description and the wiring diagram make it clear that power goes to the center terminal of the switch, and also leaves the center terminal to the trailer's receptacle so the next trailer can also have the choice of convoy or tail lights. Not sure how you read it any different. When I blow up the page, I can see the wire leaving from the center of the switch.
