In the mid 90s when I was at the recruiting centre in Regina, I answered the phone. The caller asked if I knew how much an APC weighed. 'Ah .... about 10 tons - I think. Why do you ask?'
The caller could bid on some scrap BATUS FV432s and wanted an idea whether there was any money in it for him. I asked him to leave his number, and the next day I read him the AFV Profiles specifications page on that vehicle, down to the steel manganese carbon formula. I have not idea what he did next. All this to say, the hard targets at Dundurn were probably so decrepit by 1995 that the CF took whatever armour was opportunistically available.
