Unfortunately, when he retired I lost contact with him as his email address was via the tank museum.
Regards Doug

Hi Doug
There ya go; I retired and you regained contact. One for one!! ![]() He does seem like he'd be an interesting fellow to spend some time with over a pint or 5. Yeah, I'm still drawing breathe. Poking around the house driving the missus nuts since August now. Pension cheques are regular now and we've gone down one kid to Univ so I'm thinking I need a new diversion!! A MV?, an 1970 VW Beetle? Long Guns? Star Wars Helmets? Who knows. My Missus is wary. ![]() Managed to send some things off to a museum in Bunbury WA just as I was getting out. They needed some Leo bits and I do mean bits. I now know what a co-ax port "bung" is!! ![]() Hope you and yours are well. ![]() regards Darrell |

Darrell
I sent an email to you at the sympatico email address I had, have you changed providers? I believe a port bung is essential when playing submarines in a Leopard. Getting older, ended up in emergency last weekend due to symptoms that seemed like a heart attack. I was under VERY strict orders from GP that if symptoms occured again I had to go to ER. They did all the tests and went "nup, not heart". They think it was heat stress. So being that it is nearly 40 deg C outside I am behaving myself today. Regards Doug

Hi Doug
I shall PM you an email address. ![]() Oh yes, one on each side of the barrel. We didn't call them "Bungs" though, that's for sure. I just said "Stoppers" and crew knew what I meant. "Bung"! Hehe, that's funny in a childish and immature way to me!! regards Darrell |

Bung is British for something that fills a hole to prevent liquid getting in or out.
Don't know if it is Canadian slang for a Dumby (Pacifier for a baby in US)? Quote:

As to David Fletcher, he is very approachable, only too happy to have a chat about tanks and stuff. His preference is Allied rather than Axis, understandable given the era he grew up in.
A pity he can't be contacted any more by email as in the past he was always a good resource for a definitive I.d on obscure and rare parts.
