Thanks Simon. My hooks have the tang cut off but the flat bases still there, so I could weld new hooks onto flats and clean up.
Which discs you mean? The foot ??

I think that....
If the hooks have straight top edges, the hooks are made by forge welding rod for the hook and flat strip for the base. If the hooks have an angled top edge then the hooks are made from a single piece of strip worked into shape. Yes- discs for the feet of the support legs

None of my books exist, just the flat plate spot welded to the body.
