Hi
It looks like a good project. It is a Ford F15 4x2 not an F15A which is the 4x4 version Good luck

Nice find, Vincent!
And a great way to make your entry on our forum - welcome. The data plates on a Ford should be on the inside of the right hand door (this is mine): Hope this helps, Hanno

Data plates
Hi Vincent
I can assist with new old stock data plates for Ford CMPs, the first, third and fourth in this picture are available. You can see the publications plate is specific to your F15. Please send me a pm if you are interested and I'll send you a price including postage.

I do not know of drawings for top bows, someone will have to measure them for you. The rear canvas cover can be bought from John & Mary Worthing, see their website http://www.canvasco.com/: Quote:

Vincent,
Could it be that the door has been recently replaced? It seems to have a slightly different colour and that could also be the reason for the missing data plates. I seem to remember that the Ford cab13 nose with lettering "FORD" under the headlights, suggest it was built in 1943(?) Hopefully anyone can confirm. There is a thread here that gives some ideas where to look for a possible chassis number. Sadly not all trucks were stamped with a number! Alex

The Ford script, dash, and rectangular roof hatch all indicate a 1943 vehicle.

1942 too. What is odd is the 'FORD" stampings on the front cowl under the headlamps. That is a later war feature. I'd comment on the floor checker plate pattern (which is the latter style) but that vs. the checker plus dot pattern seems to be hit an miss.

The Ford script combined with the other early features is why I said 1943.

I think July/August 1943... All data plates are missing, all.... on dashboard, on engine box.... only holes |

Based on the data available, chassis no. 149 587 fits in between:
Model / Year / Chassis No. F15A / Feb 19 - 1943 / 117810 F15A / Aug-43 / 151801 So July/Aug 1943 is a good estimate. Could you please take a picture of where you found the number? It's a new location to me. Thanks, Hanno

Photo attached of a ford instrument panel that shows shadow outlines of data plates so at least one Ford seems to have had the data plates on the panel.

Plates on dash.
One will be a publications plate and the other may be the manufacturers plate.
F15 publications plate shown here. I have these available for F15, F15A, F60S, F60L and FGT. They are new old stock. $A20 each plus postage.

Thanks for posting all this. I have been looking for the chassis number on my recently acquired F15A and found it in this exact same location. And best of all, it matches the number on the title!
It's about 10,000 earlier than Vincent's truck. It also has the two tags on the instrument panel, and no sign of any other plates anywhere. The plates seem to match the truck. The deck appears to be from a welding truck, modified into a flat deck by cutting down the fenders (and removing the welder, of course). The brackets for the folding table are still there. Hello Friends.
I'm still looking for missing parts in Europe with internet. So, I think I will paint all the truck with SCC2 color and camo pattern in SCC14 color, I will make it in 1944 Normandy campaign profil. My question is : what is engine color ??? SCC2 or Ford Grey (as for GPW Jeeps) ??? Last edited by Vincent BLASSIC; 28-05-18 at 20:02. |

These are the data plates on the engine cover of my Australian assembled Ford F-15A. Not sure if Canadian sourced vehicles used the same plates. Perhaps another person can confirm. Cheers
