One of the early AA manuals (I think it was 1941) instructed that those legs were to be thrown away. Trying to run around a stand shooting at an aircraft was too slow. Instead, the gun was merely shot from the hip in a hosepipe method.
Peter Laidler, a very experienced armourer from the UK, also speaks to the folly of taking on an aircraft that sports 20mm aircraft with a .303 LMG. Good luck in your search...those are not easy pieces to find. Personally I am searching for the elevating mechanism for the tripod. I picked up a mk2 CCM made, Cdn marked tripod but it has no T&E nor the stops. |
