The gengas period is quite interesting. I would like to see a few of the ads for different systems. Sweden does not have much oil. During the WW 2 years even the use of wood was restricted. There were restrictions on everything. Meat, eggs, soap e t c. I remember that restrictions on coffee was lifted in 1948. I think you made a good translation, because in Swedish gengas is short for generatorgas which originally was used in iron steelmills. There was a similar system using carbide (see picture below).
