Hi Alistair,
I have had a problem like this many years ago when assembling a transmission from the best bits from several transmissions. I found that the shifter forks bound up against the gears and required additional gaskets under the cover to act as spacers to allow the necessary clearance. My problem I am sure was due to a mismatch of parts. Your problem may be something similar. You could try loosening the bolts and see if it allows the transmission to shift. |

Make sure the cover and forks are in the neutral position before you start lowering the cover....
......make sure the shifting forks line up with the groves in the tranny for both fork.......using a small flashlight and lowering slowly will help.... the shift rings in the tranny MUST line up with the descending forks. Goodluck.....
