Found in a Russian magazine, the caption says "British soldiers examine captured Russian guns used by the Wehrmacht in France":

It is a Public Archives of Canada photograph and the troops are Canadians, but the guns were Russian and repurposed by the Germans.

I tried to make a Then and Now picture of this one a few years ago. The location is a quarry on the N158 from Caen to Falaise, Normandy. The quarry is still in use with fences and guards, so taking a comparison picture was a no-go, sadly.
