Hi Mike,
A quick look at Google Street reveals it is on the intersection of Docker Street and the Sturt Highway.

regards, Richard

Robert beat me to it !!

Thank you Robert and Richard - the MLU world-wide community comes to the fore yet again, with a question from the USA, and answers from Australia and the UK! Wonderful.

Yes that is the vehicle, and yes, your offer to take some images on the 19th is gratefully accepted, Robert. Please take some images from various angles.

Problem solved, thank you.

Mike

This is the closest I could get for a picture.

I have somewhere some Photos (yes! Old fashioned photos, not digital) of a complete walkaround and climb over of this vehicle, but can't locate them at the moment. Obviously filed safely.

Thanks Tony.

It would be interesting to see any changes between your images (on photopaper) compared to the ones Robert will soon take (digitally).

Not exactly sure when it was presented to Wagga Wagga, but certainly while the MRV was still a serving type, which always seemed strange to me.

Thanks

Mike

Looks like something else on display across the walkway, just behind it.

Whatever was there wasn't when the street view was taken: it is a patch of bare concrete paving in the Street View.

As far as I am aware, this is the only M113 FOV that is on display in a 24/7 accessible public location, which in itself makes this vehicle unique. The others that I can think of are all on bases or other secure sites. Everything on the MRV is welded/secured/removed due to it's public position.

EDIT: Not detailed in those pics is the plaque on the flotation vane stating it was presented to the City of Wagga Wagga in 1991 in recognition of the long association of the City with the Australian Army (Kapooka Camp is nearby).

Gents, thank you for all the responses. Some great information there, including the date of presentation.

A few high-res images by Robert on 19 Feb will complete the task nicely, thank you all.

Regards

Mike

My awareness has grown, and there are now a few M113 derived vehicles on open display at War Memorials, etc.

The small town of The Rock, NSW has M113A1 134498 APC w/T50 turret displayed in pride of place at it's War Memorial. The local Secretary of the RSL Branch has been busy writing, as the street's tree lined avenue also features a ship's anchor and a stabiliser tailplane from an F-111 C to represent all 3 services.

Sorry for the quality of some of the pics, it was a cold frosty morning, and my breath was fogging up the camera lens!
