Some more early CMP's in Rotterdam.

Water tanker. Hanno already posted this picture (Heemraadssingel Rotterdam) showing 2 early CMPs on page 1 of this thread, which he scanned from a book. The same picture now also appears on several locations on the web and honestly I don't know who has the rights for this picture. Anyway, the picture can be downloaded in reasonable quality, which makes it easier to zoom in on the water tanker.

The same truck appears one two more pictures attached. It seems it did loose it's cab doors during service.

Two different early CMP's can clearly be seen in the movie, a cab 11 Ford F15A and a Cab 12 Chevrolet C15A. Both show the same modification to the roof....or rather the removal of the steel roof in favor of a canvas cover. I am guessing the roofs were removed in warm Italy and after the unit moved to Holland, the weather required a new cover???

Great finds, Alex. That footage shows a real hodge podge of vehicles, it seems most have been modified in some shape or form.

Here’s a roofless Cab 13 passing by. The tilt is modified as well.

The Canadians in Italy, especially 1st Division did get saddled with a lot of British 'left-overs' which had seen time in the Western Desert; so there is a good chance that some of the wheeled transport filmed in the Netherlands were real veterans.

Post# 86 looks like a 1940 (1.5 ton) Chevrolet, being used by the SS... It may very well be Eastern Europe. Very interesting to see a captured British vehicle brought back from the desert and still in use...

Indeed, very likely. Add to that some of the fiercest fighting in NW Europe, and you're left with very worn-out vehicles.

Rick Cove's picture has the file name "1st Panzer Div", this may be a clue?

The German did not take captured vehicles with them when they retreated from North Africa. They barely had enough shipping available for the soldiers and armoured vehicles. So if this is Eastern Europe, the truck must have come from elswehere.

Leassed to the Russian who shared with the German army.......

Amazing that some vehicles made it from North Afrika to Italy than shipped to Southern France and then driven to the Holland for battle...... the amazing number of cab 12 that survived is amazing and a testament to their strong built and ongoing field repairs..... basically if it ran it was used in battle..... all the while the new accumulating vehicle inventory sat in fields in England with limited means to move them to the front fast enough..... but GM and Ford and others still cranked them out.....

Has anyone found any early CMPs with wooden bodies in NW Europe 1944-45?

BTW - I think the F30 (Registration PFF503) posted awhile ago by Hanno is a later No.12 Cab vehicle with a donated early body and not built like that

F15A cab 12 with missing bonnet and retro-fitted roof hatch in Fécamp (France), september 1944.
The truck has a census number starting with "42" which would indicate a Canadian unit, yet the guys in the back are no. 47 Royal Marine Commando.

The first 4 pictures are all showing the evacuation of people from Venray during the battle around Overloon and Venray in 1944. The pictures show at least two different F60L Cab 12's (see the second one in the background of the first picture)

Monkey face in the upper left corner. Wide bumper brush guard makes me think it's a Chevrolet, possibly a C8 given the small wheels and bridge class "3"

On second thought...it's more likely a Ford F8.

The C8 and F8 brush are similar in width, but the F8 brush is fitted on the inside of the bumper, which seems to be the case here. Also, F8's seem to have a slighly narrower bumper than the C8. No roof hatch....and maybe the bridge plate says "2" in stead of "3".......I think it might be one of the early CMP vans...any thoughts???
Smudge on the engine lid (gas detection paint in 1944???)......one of these two maybe?

Scraping the bottom of the barrel again......

I have watched this clip several times (Sherman V DD and nice Canadian Diamond T969, also Fordson of 27th Armoured Brigade) but only recently spotted the early CMP's in the background. It's pretty hard to tell, but I see at least two. My first thought was Ford F60H folding boat carriers, but on closer inspection I think they are 3Ton GS trucks pulling trailers with folding boat equipment.

A couple of early CMP's In Gent (Ghent), Belgium , september 1944 with at least one Cab 11!

Great thread and film links.
Can't imagine why anyone would think early CMP 's would not be used in NW Europe. As has been mentioned they would only be a few years old and many from England would have seen fairly gentle use.

British forces in Korea in 1950s were still using early WW2 stuff like open cab 3ton 6x4s.
The antique look of which amazed the Americans.

I agree Craig, but that seems to have been the general view until a few years ago.

My 12 CGT has a rebuild plate from Oct 44 for a full rebuild, so that would have been fresh and ready for a trip through NWE
