Here is hoping that the original markings are preserved and not blasted off, this car and its markings would be a great project to remove the outer layer(s) of red civilian paint and get down to the original service paint. It may look "shabby" to some but I would say it would make it WAY more interesting then a couple coats of pristine new applied 319.

I am with James on this as there is a growing movement now to save examples like these original 80 year-old markings rather than paint them over.

Ed, kind of a hard call where the needle rests between Preservation or Restoration for a vehicle owner. While taking the post war paint down to the original may be a huge undertaking (with no guarantee of success) I would HOPE the owner of this car at least preserves the markings on the jeep and paint around them.
