Did all Canadian vehicles carry them? I know the 1945 Windsor I used to own had a pair.

Good question. Certainly early vehicles didn't (the decal wasn't around then) but when did they start and were they on everything? Certainly every radio set, chorehorse and spares box and Inglis pistol had them. I once had a R.E.L. Canadian rangefinder that did.

Yes, 4 inch Kevin. Hidden in that secret place that we all have and can never find are some 4 inch and 1 inch originals. When this old mind remembers that secret safe place I will post photos.

Has anyone seen them on heavier armour other than carriers and armoured cars such as Ram and Sexton? The Ram being a cast hull might have posed a problem to a water slide transfer but a Sexton with its slab sides should have been ideal.

I agree with Hanno, there certainly needs to be more research into the application and placement of these decals before everyone goes crazy and starts sticking them on all of their restored vehicles. A good start would be a look at what Clive Law had to write about this Mutual Aid Board marking in his 2001 'Inglis Diamond' book.

I'd get a chuckle seeing one on a more modern vehicle although my wife said no to the proposition of sticking one on our Hyundai.

decal_circular_zps702b89b1.jpg It seems the collectors of Inglis pistols have looked into this subject before and collected some details like the circular and some wartime pictures: ingpist2.jpg The 1" decal is available as a sticker on eBay (no connection to the seller): https://www.ebay.ca/itm/Inglis-Hi-Po...r/133391947060 Inglis CDN decal 3.jpg Inglis CDN decal 2.jpg Inglis CDN decal.jpg

Thats a useful article Hanno, this leaves a conundrum regarding the 4" decal I uncovered on the door of my Dodge, perhaps there was a later memo updating the sizes.

On the lines of the previous carrier picture. Over the years the previous owner had enthusiastically painted around them

Mike Gurr's Universal Carrier is a good place to start as the decal is original to the vehicle. Data that I think would be pertainent in order to start building an accurate picture of which vehicles had this decal applied to them would be:
military registration number serial number contract number. |

Has anyone seen any evidence of these decals on vehicles serving in Italy/Sicily?
Judging by the letter Hanno posted they would not of been on vehicles prior to October/November 1943 |

I can provide replacement waterslide decals in any size wanted up to 8" diameter. I know that there were a limited number of sizes originally made and that 8" probably wasn't one.
I currently have Canada Decal: Available in 1 / 1.5 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 6 sizes 1 available 48/sheet $12 or 12/quarter sheet $3 1½ available 24/sheet $12 or 6/quarter sheet $3 2 available 12/sheet $12 or 6/half sheet $6 3 available 6/sheet $12 4 available 2/sheet $12 6 available 1/sheet $12 plus P&P to wherever. I also have a waterslide transfer set for the frontplate of the WS19 set correctly sized to fit. The colours are slightly off but if you have a set with some of the transfers missing or damaged then these are useful for making repairs. WS19 Front Plate Decal Set - sized correctly $12 plus P&P to wherever |
