Is this the 1943 circular of the Canadian Manufacturer's Association which CLive referred to? It summarizes the details quite well:

It seems the collectors of Inglis pistols have looked into this subject before and collected some details like the circular and some wartime pictures:

Thats a useful article Hanno, this leaves a conundrum regarding the 4" decal I uncovered on the door of my Dodge, perhaps there was a later memo updating the sizes.
