| Spare wheel carriers

Added some pictures of spare wheel carriers for reference. It looks like the Dodge D60S used this type of carrier too: Comparable Ford carrier opens to the other side:

That's an interesting variation on the clamshell tire retainer shown on the Ford GS without tarp. Do you have any idea whether that's a production variant or a replacement fabricated locally. In any case, it looks like it would be much simper to replicate than the "more normal" clamshell.

The Chevrolet carrier is mounted to open to the left, the Ford one is mounted to open to the right. One of the many variations between Ford and Chev CMP which are otherwise identical

There goes that idea... I didn't see a pivot or the little ramp section but was being (excessively) optimistic that a simple solution was presenting itself.

In your type of truck the spare sits in a bracket in the RH front of the body. See http://www.mapleleafup.net/forums/sh...ad.php?t=1371:

Sorry Hanno...I hadn't noticed we were wirint a reply at the same time! Dave....I have had another look at the position of the spare wheel; so far I have found the Dutch post-war picture I posted is the only exception to the rule, with the spare wheel carrier positioned in the left front of the body......all others show it on the right hand side. Have a search here on the forum, RichCam posted some pictures of a Derrick truck with the spare wheel carrier, and I believe Barry also posted pics of another example. Alex

This is Jos Van der Auwera's C60L. The spare wheel carrier will be fitted to this truck sometime soon (transport is delayed due to COVID).
