The Vandoos museum in the Citadel is impressive! But it is a conventional glass cases and cramped spaces museum.

Oh my, there's nothing not to see in Quebec City. Everything from the early English French time to the Plains of Abraham (for a while the Ross Rifle factory) to the Dominion Arsenals factory which is a museum dedicated to our ammunition manufacturing in both world wars (sounds dull but it isn't). Just walking in the same place as many of our most historical figures and where history was made is heady. As a youngster I poured over books with pictures of sites in Quebec City and to see them in person was very fulfilling.
Taking a break from history and military find a little spot in the old city with a patio and enjoy a glass of wine while soaking it all in. |
