Mariano.

During World War 2 here in Canada, CMP tyres made with synthetic rubber were marked with a small red rectangle on the side walls to identify them from tyres made with natural rubber.

The red stripe on the rad hose may (or may not) be a similar means of identifying the type of rubber used in making the hose.
