ford and Chev cab 12

Well no not all are, the Chev bonnet is flat,

But my 12 cab Chev has a ford bonnet, factory photos and in service photos show this as well. I have also come across this phenomenon in a number of vehicles that have been broken for parts; it seems to be exclusive to trucks that do not have roof hatches.

I have a C30LAA 12 cab that also has a Ford bonnet.

I have an un-proven theory that the early 12 cab Chevs were supplied with Ford bonnets due to tooling problems in the Chev plants.

Having said that I have a 11/12 cab field conversion that I have broken for spares and that was fitted with a flat Chev bonnet.

Anyone else noticed this?
