I haven’t seen on like this. It uses four cylinders for compressed air.

That could be a Smith motor compressor?.Smith used alot of Ford engines to power their compressors

It could be a smith compressor. The only V-8 smith compressors I have seen were newer and used one bank for the compressor and run on the opposite side. The compressor in the ad uses the end two cylinders on one side and the middle two cylinders on the opposite side. Because it was based on the Ford flathead V-8 I thought it would be of interest here.

From the Hagerty story:
We sufferers of the green disease know we are in good company, when the photo is credited to the, 'Smith Motor Compressor Club'.

Another possibility is Schramm. They sold theirs under the brand/model name Ford-Air. They made them as compressor unit onlt, mounted in a tractor so that it could drive to/around the job site as needed and mounted in a small crawler https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RXbb0so8OK0
I'm not sure whether Schramm made 4 cylinder versions or only the 8 cylinder versions. The manuals I've seen were for compressors based on the 60HP Ford v-8 rather than the 85 or 95 HP used in carriers and CMPs. My age is starting to show - I think I recall kits advertised in Popular Mechanics, Mechanics Illustrated or similar for do-it-yourself conversions. I've no idea who the maker would have been. Later, Schramm produced more conventional compressors with a motor driving a compressor (as opposed to a comvertedt motor with half the cylinders converted to compressor duty). |

The head looks like it has a corner broken. The person listing it says it can be used as a cool yard piece. I think that may be all it's good for.
