Some of these pics I have posted previously but not in the higher resolution format.
https://find.slv.vic.gov.au/discover...ages&offset=50 PICTURE [Man, possibly Mr. Luciano Limoni, standing, wearing hat, hand resting on truck, Bonegilla or Bandiana] [picture] [ca. 1952] https://find.slv.vic.gov.au/discover...tains,bandiana https://find.slv.vic.gov.au/discover...iana&offset=10 Melbourne ARP exercise. This is a 1940 Pontiac conveying returned veterans: circa1945. The Victorian two letter reg. plate scheme began in 1939 with AA-000 and ended in 1953 with ZZ-999. Many vehicle restorers make the mistake of painting a white border on the plates.

Public Records Office Victoria pics.
South Melbourne scene, looks like the Montague Street Bridge: Truck on the left C6668 is a D300 Forward Control International - I found a small number of these trucks in the AWM126 ledgers, they were issued to army units based in and around Melbourne - Coburg, Geelong and a few other suburbs. Unusual vehicles. The bridge, in a updated form, still exists today and is currently used by trams. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Montague_Street_Bridge https://prov.vic.gov.au/archive/9843...58C44C?image=1 Snow plough https://prov.vic.gov.au/archive/4952...91D375?image=1 https://prov.vic.gov.au/archive/16FE...B701D4?image=1 https://prov.vic.gov.au/archive/ECB0...F61F8F?image=1 https://prov.vic.gov.au/archive/16FC...DD015A?image=1 https://prov.vic.gov.au/archive/ECAE...BB5B7B?image=1 Dodge with a gas producer. PRI stands for Pemoeda Repoeblik Indonesia (modern spelling Pemuda Republik Indonesia), meaning “Youth of the Republic of Indonesia”. Among other meanings,ą the word pemoeda was used at the time to refer to politically active young people — in other words, ones opposed to Dutch rule.
ą The basic meaning is approximately “young man.” |

I have seen a few of the 15 cwt 42-47 utes fitted with these military instruments. GM-H figures they made around 25,000 of these cabs during WW2 . I am looking for a decent cab , mine are rusted out beyond help.

These are TJ Richards (Adelaide) built Dodge cabs pictured in Melbourne during WW2. The wagons are South Australian broad gauge 5 feet 3 inch. South Australia had three rail guages in use.- 3'6" , 4'8.5" and 5'3" . On the wagons is stencilling ' MAY USE IN VICTORIA ' Victoria still uses 5'3" gauge today. The gauge screwup happened because of the Colonial rivalries of the 1800s. Before 1901 Australia was made up of separated Colonies with border customs controls.
Tasmania and Queensland are 3 feet 6 inch gauge as is West. Australia. NSW is Standard gauge 4 feet 8 1/2 inch . Victoria is broad gauge same as Ireland. South Australia used a mixture of all 3 gauges. 427/07 WW2 TRUCK CABINS LOADED ONTO SOUTH AUSTRALIAN F CLASS WAGONS SPENCER STREET YARD; GLS; RAILWAY; FREIGHT https://prov.vic.gov.au/archive/2E82...B9A63D?image=1

Ah yes, the 20cwt QF 3 inch. A WW1 era design .
This fire pump is seen in Footscray , a inner Western suburb of Melbourne . The pump looks like one of the GM-H built pumps, it has Chevrolet wheels and hubs fitted . The engine in these pumps may have been a Ford 10. Update: the engine is a 4 cyl. Side valve. https://viewer.slv.vic.gov.au/?entit...58&mode=browse https://find.slv.vic.gov.au/discover...ages&offset=40 Close up of the Chevrolet hub caps. Repairing the running board of a 1940 GMC truck. The ' General Motors Truck' trim is seen on the bonnet.
The running board support brackets are fixed with heavy duty rivets, I drilled out these rivets yesterday, on my 1940 Chevrolet 15 cwt chassis, what a horrible job ! The 'Holden' body tag is seen on the lower corner of the cowl. These cabs are made from a heavy gauge steel, I'm guessing around 18 gauge. I can barely lift and move a door by myself, so heavy. I'm looking for a decent cab, my examples require major repairs. https://find.slv.vic.gov.au/discover...ces&offset=200
