That area is all reclaimed marsh and bog right next to the Fraser River. If it wasn’t for the Dykes it would be flooded annually. New drivers need a lot of practice before trying hills. But there is this video if you want to see some hills

..... I lost a few on dirt roads going 3rd to 2nd...... then died in second as I could not shift fast enough to catch first...... grind....grind..... full stop back to first gear..... and this all in low range..... the rough terrain(loose round rocks) and the long shift from 2dn to first is murder....... half the engine torque was being eaten up by round rocks rolling/spinning under the tires.....
.....but never broke down!!!!!
