Default Model Spray Paint Question

Do any of the model spray paint manufacturers produce a Flat No. 2 Brown spray paint?

I’m not sure, but I kind of doubt it. You can buy SCC 2 (or at least, various interpretations of it) from model paint manufacturers, but most —if not all — of those sell bottled paint only, not aerosol cans.

Hello David,

Can you take a paint sample to one of your automotive paint suppliers so they can mix up an aerosol can for you?

Kind regards
Lionel

I would have suggested Rondex Paint as they made up the rattle cans, and I was always happy to do business with them. However, after being a Winnipeg fixture forever, I see they are now closed, having been put into receivership back in April.

Default Spray Bombs in Winnipeg.....

David: This should hopefully help you out. The biggest dilemma you will have is finding the colour you would like to have matched! Once you have that sample, go to Cloverdale Paint. You have 2 choices. 740 Nairn Ave 204 958-5450 or 1449 Chevrier Blvd Unit B 204 958-5420.
They will match your colour there to your approval, in any product or finish. Now....the Nairn Ave Store will manufacture your product in "solvent" based cans. You will have to purchase a minimum of 6 cans, plus a gallon of the paint, plus the 6 cans (minimum). You get about 12 spray bombs from 1 gallon of paint. The remaining paint is returned to you, if you don't use it.

If you are swayed over to water based paint (waterborne enamels are great), go to the Chevrier Store, where they will make it in single spray bombs, plus the paint (1 litre), plus the spray can(s).

I had this done (solvent) a lot of years ago for the late Lorne Ertl, in Olive Drab Green. Lorne really really liked the product and colour.

If you have any problems, drop me a PM or contact me through this entry. The girl at Nairn gave me a price of around $13.00 a can....but don't quote me!

If your smart and you know a painting contractor, use their account to get wholesale.

Keep us all posted Robert

Default Further notes......

David/Rob: If you get these cans done and God knows you'll be doing other colours, have the store make you a "draw down" card of each colour. This is an approx 5" x 8" card with a large sample of the paint applied to it. They will also put the formula on it for future use. It's also helpful to make sure the colour is spot on next time you order paint. Do this for all your colours!

Lionel and Rob.

I had forgotten about that option. Thanks for the reminder. Boy! RONDEX brings back memories.

I will look into the Nairn operation of Cloverdale Paint Robert. Thanks for that tip.
