Hi Sean,
I always thought the smaller tyres looked out of place, so I wouldn't worry too much.
The rims off the tamiya LRDG are 9.00 x 16 but of course they had 9.00 sand tread tyres. I found on an early model that these tyres split and that gave me the idea that if you took a 10.50 x 20 tyre and cut it you may be able to get aware with it. All the best.
